The company officials have also claimed that its various executives including Chief Technology Officer, Josh Giegel and Director of Passenger Experience, Sara Luchian were also part of the human passenger test. Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman, Virgin Hyperloop and Group Chairman & Chief Executive, DP World reportedly remarked “I had the true pleasure of seeing history made before my very eyes.” The hyperloop train owner hopes to get its safety certification by the end of the year 2025 and thereafter begin commercial operations by 2030. 6 TRAVEL TECHNOLOGY TRENDS THAT ARE HERE TO STAY
Virgin Hyperloop System Speed
According to the various media reports, Virgin Hyperloop pod train managed to reach a maximum speed of up to 172 km per hour at the recently conducted passenger test held at Virgin Hyperloop’s own Dev Loop test site in Las Vegas in Nevada in the United States. The levitating high speed pod system has also run more than 400 tests at the Nevada test site in the past but without passengers at similar speeds. However, Virgin Hyperloop is aiming to provide passengers a maximum speed of up to 966 kilometers per hour in the future. Virgin Hyperloop officials have also claimed that once it is fully functional, it will be able to cross the entire breadth of America from Washington to New York in just half an hour making the hyperloop train at least four times faster than existing high-speed trains and twice as fast as compared to the average commercial planes.
How does Virgin Hyperloop pod system works?
A hyperloop(in general) works through the concept of shooting pods (or compartments of passengers) through an airtight tube placed in partial vacuum. It utilises the concept of magnetic levitation for its propulsion for passenger carrying to levitate over the tracks. Virgin Hyperloop pod system that completed its first human passenger test recently also works on a similar process of high-speed levitation and has been rendered as the future of transportation. Additionally, with more advancements and improvements in technology, super high speed pod system trains can also cut down the carbon footprint of transportation by a significant percentage.
