Sheryl Sandberg, who till date enjoyed the position of chief operating officer at Facebook, has now been added to the list of company’s board of directors. Sandberg, who handles business operations at Facebook; her responsibilities include sales, marketing, business development, legal, human resources, public policy and communications. On making Sheryl a part of the board, Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook said, “Sheryl has been my partner in running Facebook and has been central to our growth and success over the years. Her understanding of our mission and long-term opportunity, and her experience both at Facebook and on public company boards makes her a natural fit for our board.” Sandberg on her new accomplishment said, “Facebook is working every day to make the world more open and connected. It’s a mission that I’m deeply passionate about, and I feel fortunate to be part of a company that is having such a profound impact in the world.” Before joining Facebook, Sandberg served as vice president of Global Online Sales and Operations at Google. Here her responsibilities included managing online sales channels for advertising and publishing and operations for consumer products worldwide. Prior to Google, Sandberg was working for United States Treasury Department under President Bill Clinton as Chief of Staff. However, she started her career with World Bank as an economist. Her qualifications include degrees in B.A. and M.B.A from Harvard University. Apart from serving in the Facebook, Sanberg is also a member of boards in The Walt Disney Company, Women for Women International, the Center for Global Development and V-Day.
