During the 43rd annual general meeting of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), Mukesh Ambani emphasized that Reliance Smart shop, a platform for customers and kirana stores, will work hand-in-hand with and WhatsApp to create more growth opportunities for kirana stores in India. He said, “JioMart and WhatsApp will be working closely to create growth opportunities for millions of Indian small merchants and enable customers seamlessly transact with kirana shops.” Having crossed a whopping 250,000 orders a day, the Reliance online grocery store will soon be offering electronics, fashion, pharmaceutical, and healthcare products to consumers all across India. Working on the problems faced by the local kirana stores, including limited product range, space, and delivery challenges among others, the partnership JioMart will aid kirana stores to expand its earnings. It is important to note that JioMart, like other online delivery channels, will essentially act as an aggregator between customers and nearby grocery stores. JioMart acts as a procurement and delivery channel between manufacturers and merchants.
