The email alert being sent out by Google to all Google Play Music Users states, “On February 24, 2021, we will delete all of your Google Play Music data. This includes your music library with any uploads, purchases and anything you’ve added from Google Play Music. After this date, there will be no way to recover it.” The tech giant had originally planned to give users time until the end of 2020 to either transfer their data to YouTube Music using the built-in tool or download an offline copy via Google Takeout. This data includes the music library with uploads, purchases, and anything that has been purchased from Google Play Music.  Google has decided to extend the deadline till February 24 after which it will proceed with Google Play Music deletion. Google has also clarified that in case users have already used the transfer tool, they can use it once again to transfer everything stored in Google Play Music to avoid any loss of data. How to Transfer Data from Google Play Music

According to Google, the process of transferring the data is not at all a difficult one. Users can simply transfer the Google Play Music to YouTube music with just one click. Furthermore, Google has also decided that it will convert the Google Play Music subscription to the equivalent tier of YouTube Music Premium or YouTube Premium. This will be done based on the benefits being offered to individual users as per current subscription plan. To transfer data from Google Play Music to YouTube Music:

User can also head to YouTube Music app > Tap on profile picture > Settings > Transfer > Transfer from Google Play Music.

Alternative Method to Transfer Files from Google Play Music

Data transfer can also be done by visiting music.google.com or the Android or iOS app to see a Transfer to YouTube prompt. Here, users will be redirected to YouTube Music, where the transfer will take place. This transfer includes playlists, songs, albums, likes, upload purchases, and billing information. It also includes a a Manage your music option. One can download the music library, delete recommendation history, or even delete your entire Google Play Music library. In case a user decides to download music library, they will be simply redirected to Google Takeout, from where one can export a copy of Google Play Music data.
